KBShimmer Band Geek & China Glaze Cranberry Splash

Hello :)  This mani was done on Christmas morning and was originally planned for the Adventures In Stamping challenge this upcoming Sunday, however, it isn't going to happen.  I will tell you the reason after these photos.

I started off with a coat of Orly Liquid Vinyl - a black creme, then topped it off with a coat of KBShimmer Band Geek - a black jelly with various sizes of gold, silver & copper glitter;  On the ring finger was China Glaze Cranberry Splash - a ruby red with shimmer, stamped using plate A13 with Orly Rage - a rosy golden foil.  A coat of Gelous then topcoat except the ring finger which was only a glossy topcoat.
The reason that I decided not to post for the AIS challenge this coming Sun is because we lost our beloved furry friend, Maximus.  He passed away on Dec 26, 2012 12:48pm.  This mani was dedicated to him - the black base represents his black silky coat, the gold/copper glitters represent his tan spots and the silver glitters are his gray hair.  The ring finger represents that he's in a better place now.  This was the mani I had on that day when we took him with his favorite blankie to the vet for cremation.  We should have him back next week.

He was not a healthy puppy.  He was diagnosed with Parvo 10 days after we picked him up. This deadly disease messed up his GI system.  I spent day and night browsing forums and asked a lot of questions, plus tears because he had 8-9 bathroom visits (diarrhea) a day.  Actually now I can't remember how I ran into one website and met a very nice lady.  She was the one who introduced us to the raw diet and helped us along the way.  By the time Max was 9-10 months old, he was finally well.  He still couldn't put on weight until he was about 4-5 years old.  But it didn't matter if he had the 'proper' weight as long as he was healthy, I was happy, right?  No matter how unhealthy he was, he always ate.

One day about 4 weeks ago, he skipped a meal, then another.  It was so not him so we took him to the vet, he had an antibiotic shot + AB pills for 2 weeks, oh and a blood work that everything was fine. After the antibiotics worn off, he skipped a meal then another AGAIN.  The same symptoms came back so we took him to the vet once again, he got an antibiotic shot and a prednisone shot.  At the same time, he was on herbal meds as well.  On Christmas Eve, he started to look sick.  He wasn't very active at the park but still ate that night.  On Christmas Day, he didn't finish his dinner but I spoon fed him and he finished 90% of it.  On Boxing Day 4am, he threw up his dinner.  At 12:48pm, he passed away and only Nathan was there with him.  You know, we didn't just lose a dog, we lost a GREAT friend !!  Not that it matters anymore but the vet had no clue why he was sick.  Guess we'll never know.

It hurts SO much that he's gone.  My eyes are swollen from crying - we all have been crying.  But knowing he's in a better place where he could just run and run, enjoy all the doggie treats that he couldn't have and no more pain/sickness, we are happy for him.  It's so sad not to see him at the corner by the front door or not in his bed !!  That I tried not to call his name out of habit !!  That he's not here right outside of my nail polish room.  This house is so quiet without his bark !!  We all loved him so so much and he loved us back unconditionally.  It is also difficult to write this post ... it took about 5 hours.

Here's a photo taken back in Aug this year
Also I haven't been reading/commenting on any of your blogs so please forgive me.  I will do that when I feel better, I promise.  I'll probably be back to blogging in about 2 weeks or so.

Lastly,  thank you so much for reading such a lengthy post and Happy New Year !!

I am so sorry for you loss. I know how hard it can be to lose a pet. They are so much more then just an animal. They become your best friend. The one you can tell anything to, and one who will never judge you. He was lucky to have a family that cared for and loved him. He will always be with you *big hugs*

Vicky, I'm so sorry for your loss. Maximus looks and sounds like he was such a gorgeous, happy, and well-loved dog. Your mani is gorgeous and such a nice tribute to Maximus. My dog passed away in October, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever been through. Our pets become our family. Take all the time you need <3
