OPI Stay the Night - Liquid Sand

Hello :)  Today I will show you one of the OPI Mariah Carey Collection 2013 that features the new Liquid Sand finish - Stay the Night.  It is a blackened base with red reflective glitter.  I was really surprised of how it looked and felt in real life - very dull dirty looking and felt rough almost like sandpaper but NOT sharp.  The finish, however, didn't bother me at all; it didn't get caught in my hair or scratch my skin.  I never was a fan of the gritty feel but I really liked the unique finish.  You must wait a couple of minutes between each coat for the texture finish to come alive.  Let's take a look at these photos :)

2 coats with NO topcoat
2 coats of topcoat and I could still feel the texture.  Probably a coat of Gelous then topcoat would smooth it out
Used some striping tape for the diagonal lines then painted a coat of the same shade - Stay the Night and left it at that
No issue with formula or application.  In fact, the formula was great and application was smooth.  However, I was wearing this on my right hand without topcoat and the middle finger chipped within a couple of hours.  The rest stayed fine for 24 hours.

I was so sure this was going to be a pain to remove.  Well, it wasn't.  I use felt (instead of cotton pads) to remove nail polish anyway and this did take longer than the usual creme polish removal but not as bad as glitter removal.

What do you think?  Thank you for dropping by :)

I love how you combined textures and finishes in this mani. Who'd say that it was the same polish? Very interesting look.

I like textured finishes - this started with Deborah Lippmann's Mermaids Dream. So my first choice evidently would be the gritty finish but I love the shiny finish as well too!!!.

I'm definitely loving the combination of the glossy and the liquid sand!

I absolutely love the second look you did but this just isn't for me. I'm not sure I'd buy it but I guess I will never know until I do. Lol sometimes, I feel like its almost as bad as bar glitter. But it looks good on you!!

In my past experience, bar glitters were always sharp when they curled. No thanks !! Thx Anna :)

The texture does look like sand paper. I can't wait to try them. Love your design showing both textures.

Oh Vicky! The final look on this is amazing! I picked up Stay the Night and Can't Let go this weekend and have used them both already. I LOVE this finish and can't wait to see the Zoya PixiDust being released in Feb. It looks to have the same type of finish, only in pastel!

I love the nail art so much. Great idea to top coat first then do another layer of texture on top!!
