Hello :) This is a special cause to me because my niece, Isabella, has autism. While we polish our nails blue might not really do anything, but it might help to raise awareness.
From Autism Speaks: Autism statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify around 1 in 88 American children as on the autism spectrum–a ten-fold increase in prevalence in 40 years. Careful research shows that this increase is only partly explained by improved diagnosis and awareness. Studies also show that autism is four to five times more common among boys than girls. An estimated 1 out of 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States.
Isabella is turning 4 years old in May (a Taurus like her auntie) and this photo was taken right before Easter at her school (I'm sure you probably figured that out by now.) Isn't she the cutest and the prettiest?!?!?! She's quite a happy girl :)I decided to do a water marble with a silver base plus 3 blue shades and glitter on the accent nail. Here are the colors I used:
Zoya Trixie - a silver metallic as base color;
Dermelect Above It - a sky blue creme for water marble
Julep Annie - an electric blue topaz creme for wm;
Julep Gunta - a royal blue creme for wm;
Clear Polish - a drop between each blue shade in the wm;
Darling Diva Polish It Gives You Wings - a clear base with red medium hexes and jumbo yellow and mini blue holo glitters - for the ring finger.
It Gives You Wings had very few of the jumbo yellow glitter, so I added a couple of yellow flowers instead.
Not the best work but it certainly serves the purpose :)
On the accent nail, the colors represent the Autism Awareness ribbon - multicolored blue, yellow and redMy sister, May, and I live about 60+ miles apart so we don't see each other often. May being a single mother, juggling with a full-time job, house chores plus Bella's therapy sessions (20~30 hours/wk,) she manages all on her own. I just think that she's a very tough and strong person. Hang in there, sis !!
Since April is the month of Autism Awareness, I will be focusing on more blue shades.
Are you wearing blue polish today? Thank you for dropping by :)
